| The term Chiropractic is derived from the Greek words cheir and praxis meaning hand and action respectively. Thus Chiropractic means done by hand type of health care that work on the principle of body structure, mainly that of the spine and its functions. Chiropractic is the alternative healthcare profession focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and associated effects on nervous system and overall health of man. Chiropractic is a system of remedy in which ailment is regard as the result of anomalous function of nervous system.The Chiropractic method of dealing typically entails manipulation of spinal column and additional body structures. In other words the chiropractic is the medical practice that is based on the on the fact that several diseases are resulted from the disruption of nerve functions whose principal source is the displacement of vertebral spine. The treatment of such diseases in chiropractic involves proper regulation of the displaced vertebrae. Chiropractic was introduced for the first time by Daniel David Palmer of Toronto, Canada and sifted to United States of America in the year 1895 and his principle of chiropractic was that all health troubles can be treated or prevented by adjusting the spine and other joints which he considered under "subluxations". This chiropractic medicine system further expanded and as a result of the extensive studies and works of biomedical professionals. Chiropractics believed that subluxations which is the misalignment of spine and interfered with cranial nerve signals are the sources of different heath problems. Chiropractic science believes that the human body has self healing abilities; and by making proper chiropractic adjustements to the spine helps in curing various problems like backache, neck ache, headaches, etc. Restoration of proper alignment of the spine enhances the restoration of the nerve signals and promotes the cure of the associated diseases. The general principle of all chiropractic practices is the proper and exact alignment of the spine. Earlier it was not accepted by the medical practitioners due to the lack of efficient scientific evidences of his principle. Chiropractic is a health care discipline that focuses on the relationship between the body's structure, primarily the spine and its functioning.The chiropractic is useful in taking care of sports injuries or low back troubles and this practice may be associated with the management of extremities, nutrition, physiotherapy, or exercises to augment spinal strength or progress in overall health. Chiropractic treatment for any sort of injury or problem involves a non-invasive and drug-free therapy and hence it does not have any side-effects and is not usually painful.Chiropractic doctors are trained as experts in the spine and know how to manually return motion to constrained spinal joints. Chiropractic may also be associated with other alternative and complementary methods under holistic approach of treatment. Chiropractic doctors are neither trained nor licensed to recommend drugs or execute surgery. But these chiropractic experts are skilled to identify signs and symptoms of diabetes, cancer, and many other infectious diseases and pass on the patients to medicinal physicians for specific or simultaneous care. However there is verification on the evidence of effective treatment of tension headaches, severe low back pain by chiropractics. |
